TAX DEADLINE:


Personal and real estate taxes are due by October 15th of each year. Penalties will be added after October 15.


ASSESSMENT DEADLINE:


ASSESS BETWEEN JANUARY 1 AND MAY 31 TO AVOID 10% LATE ASSESSMENT PENALTY

Between January 1 and May 31 each year it is the responsibility of the property owners in the State of Arkansas to list all personal property in the county and school district where the property is located. Property assessed after May 31, unless acquired after that date is subject to delinquency penalty of 10%.


IMPORTANT DATES:


Real and personal property taxes are due March 1-October 15 of each year. Taxes become delinquent if not paid by the October 15 deadline. If the last day to pay taxes falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or postal holiday, the last day to pay taxes without penalty is the following business day.


AMENDMENT 79:


In accordance with Amendment 79 of the Arkansas Constitution, homeowners may be eligible for up to a $425 real estate tax credit on their homestead property. Addition benefits may apply to those who are 100% disabled or age 65 or older (the assessment on your house and associated land may not increase unless you make substantial improvements). A homestead is a residential property of which you are the owner of record, and which is used as your principal place of residence.

Q: Can I pay my real estate taxes before I pay my personal property taxes?

A: No, personal property taxes must be paid before or at the same time as real estate taxes, according to Act 26-35-301.


Q: Can I pay my taxes in installments?

A: Yes, Act 26-35-501 states, taxpayers may pay their current taxes in installments from March 1-October 15, if there are no delinquent taxes on their account. Installment payments are not excepted on delinquent taxes. Delinquent taxes must be paid in full before installments can be accepted on current real and personal property taxes.
